Dell releases new Mini 10 Netbook details

Dell has released details about an updated Mini 10 Netbook.  The unit is due out in January 2010 and will utilize the new Intel Atom N450 processor.   According to Dell, the new, updated version of the Mini 10 Netbook will offer many new features.  Some these features will include the new Atom 450 processor, support for Broadcom HD video processing, extended battery life, a new keyboard style, Wifi GPS, an HDTV turner, and built in surround sound speakers.

The new Netbook will go on sale in January directly from Dell and start out at $299.  As with most computers, upgrades will probably increase the base price.  Unlike current Netbook models offered by Dell, the new Mini 10 will be built more for greater support for video processing including HD video. While the N450 has the same speed as current Atom processor, it has newer features that can help produce improvements in processing abilities and even power saving aids due to its smaller die cast size.

One of the biggest additions to the new Mini 10 model will be Broadcom’s Crystal Clear HD video processing unit.  This multimedia upgrade should be a major shot in the current lineup of Netbooks offered by Dell.  Many Netbooks, including Dell’s units, have difficulty in playing videos downloaded or streamed from the Internet.
